The Climate Fresco: An Innovative Initiative to Act and Adapt to Climate Change

What is a Climate Fresco?

The Climate Fresco is an interactive teaching method designed to raise awareness of climate change issues among individuals and companies. It visualizes the various interactions between the causes and consequences of climate change. Using this approach, which complements the carbon footprint assessment we carried out ourselves, we were able to understand how it is possible to assess our carbon footprint, and came up with concrete actions to reduce our impact on the environment. We created three frescoes in small groups of 7, with the help of Jeanne Guillaume, who explained the risks and consequences of human actions on the environment. The activity that encompasses the fresco is a good way of raising awareness of climate change, and everyone leaves with a global vision of climate change.

Assessment of actions: ease of implementation and added value :

Our company used a two-axis matrix to evaluate the actions envisaged. The first axis was ease of implementation, which measures the feasibility and resources required to carry out each action. The second axis was added value, which assesses the potential effect of each action on reducing our GHG emissions.

Internal actions :

Some of the ideas we have raised focus on recycling, the adoption of more energy-efficient technologies, the promotion of car-sharing and electric vehicles, and telecommuting to reduce certain journeys.

External actions :

In addition to internal actions, we have also identified opportunities to have a positive impact outside our company. These include raising customers’ awareness of climate issues by encouraging them to orient their projects towards resilience, and promoting materials or services with a low carbon footprint.

To ensure the effectiveness of our actions, we will repeat the experience of this time of reflection next year.

We have set targets for each action that will enable us, and you too, to track our efforts in ecological transformation/transition.

Finally, the Climate Fresco was a valuable experience for our company, enabling each of us to become aware of our impact on the company’s carbon footprint and to develop concrete actions to reduce that impact. We are determined to implement these major everyday actions, to play our part in the transition to a more sustainable and environmentally-friendly world.
