PUREPOLIS: A European project to build healthier and more resilient cities.
We are proud to announce our participation in the project PUREPOLIS – Dynamic Abatement Strategies for maximized environmental and societal health in cities, funded by the Horizon Europe.
🌍 A common ambition: healthier cities
PUREPOLIS aims to develop dynamic, innovative, and transferable strategies to combat urban pollution (air, water, noise, soil) and its impacts on public health.
At the heart of the project:
🧭 A citizen application to enhance engagement and real-time monitoring
🧰 An operational toolbox to guide public policies towards zero pollution
📊 A detailed assessment of exposure to 35 pollutants
🧠 A next-generation digital twin to simulate and replicate results at the European scale
🔬 A concrete experiment in the field
The project will be tested in two pilot cities:
Nantes Métropole (France)
Valence (Spain)
PUREPOLIS stands out for its systemic approach, intersecting environmental sciences, citizen innovation, and technology to propose reproducible solutions in other European territories.

The consortium brings together 19 partners from 8 countries, including:

💡 The expertise of UrbanThink
UrbanThink will intervene in several strategic aspects of the project:
Visualization of environmental data
Deployment of territorial digital twins
Integration with decision-support tools for local policies
We will leverage our expertise to make complexity visible, readable, and useful for public decision-makers and local actors.
📅 On the way to 36 months of co-construction
The PUREPOLIS project will extend until 2027. Objective: to build a healthier, more resilient, and inclusive city, through concrete environmental governance tools, mobilizable by all stakeholders.
