The CEC: our roadmap
The CEC, what is it?
Inspired by the Citizens' Convention for Climate on a national scale, the Companies' Convention for Climate West (CEC West) aims to produce bold and impactful environmental roadmaps, intended to be implemented in businesses.
It brings together a diversity of 60 companies represented by more than 120 leaders from the Greater West, a committee responsible for the mission, independent experts supported by a team of about thirty people, facilitators, coaches, and volunteers.
Together, we have undertaken a journey of several months, with three main objectives:
Strengthen our internal transition
Rethink our business model from an environmental perspective, and write our roadmap
Capitalize on this transformation to testify to the economic and political world
Gwenaëlle and Christophe actively participated in the 6 sessions of 2 to 3 days:

Session 1: Observations and the world to come
The first session, in Rennes, was devoted to the awareness of the limits of our development model.
We left with a profound transformation of our perspective, a determination to meet the challenges, and a heightened responsibility for concrete actions.
Christophe clearly explains how significant this first session was:
I was shocked hearing the scientific findings, the facts, the forecasts. It’s no longer ‘we need to take care of the planet because it will become problematic’, it’s ‘We must act massively and quickly to maintain a livable world, which will not be the one of today.'

Session 2: New Direction towards the Regenerative
Session 2, in Nantes, focused on returning to a planetary boundaries-respecting economy that meets human needs. To do this, we explored the recontextualization of the purpose of businesses and their future economic models. We shared the reference framework of the economy of tomorrow as we envision it and explored the canvas of the regenerative enterprise.

Session 3: Doing Business with the Living
We began this third session in the streets and on the beaches of Saint-Malo with a deep time walk. A narrated walk to cover 4.6 billion years of Earth over 4.6 km, where each meter traveled represents 1 million years (the walk was shortened to 2.3 km for us).
This session focused on integrating living beings as an essential component of businesses. We incorporated the biodiversity and the living into our roadmap and examined the offerings and the economic model, which we could compose as levers for redirection towards a regenerative enterprise.

Session 4: New Compass
Session 4 took place in Brest and had the thread "Counting what really matters." We started with "Fertile Workshops" allowing us to exchange on our territorial projects launched in session 2 with the other participants. We had the chance to participate in the project “Born in PPM” by Mary-Lou Mauricio, photographer. Dominique Méda also shared the fruit of her research for over 20 years on wealth indicators, work, and ecological conversion.

Session 5: Cooperating with Ecosystems
The session in Angers was marked by conferences, notably Nathanaël Wallenhorst, who spoke to us about territorial resilience, a round table on cooperation in ecosystems, and a presentation on regenerative leadership. We also benefited from workshops, such as 3D Mapping (awareness of representing our company's ecosystem in a playful way), collective coaching sessions, and worked on our roadmap via collective intelligence.

Session 6: Taking Flight
Session 6 “Taking Flight” of the CEC Ouest took place in Nantes, featuring highlights such as an opening plenary with a speech by Yann Trichard, President of CCI Nantes-St Nazaire. Some "pitched" their roadmap and we exchanged around each other's cooperative projects.
We attended with emotion the closing plenary, marking the end of these 10 months of adventure with gratitude, testimonials, and a closing cocktail. We salute our colleagues who participated with us in this adventure and wish them, as we do, to take flight.
Beyond the learning, it is an adventure that pushed me to my limits, made me question our business, my way of living and listening to my emotions. I also remember many encounters, very different personalities, very different sectors of activity, very different levels of commitment at the start, which constitute an immense collective strength. Christophe GEFFROY, 2024

The adventure continues, we are integrating into the alumni community and are determined to encourage new companies to join the CEC Inside Ouest of 2024.
