Introduction
The city of Cabourg, a seaside resort in Normandy, sought to modernize the management of its public lighting network by relying on an innovative digital approach. As part of a project management assistance mission, UrbanThink deployed its ThinkCities solution to integrate, visualize, and analyze all urban and telecom equipment related to lighting, based on comprehensive field surveys.
Issue
Faced with a technical park consisting of 1781 luminaires, 33 cabinets, 236 urban objects, and 2 event zones, the city did not have a centralized system to monitor the status of the equipment, their geolocation, and their technical dependencies. This lack of clarity limited operational efficiency, intervention planning, and the structuring of a future comprehensive public lighting contract.
Process
UrbanThink, in collaboration with IDELUM and DELTA companies, has integrated field surveys into the ThinkCities platform and developed a dedicated interface for data visualization of equipment. Specific features have been added: dynamic filters, georeferencing, technical attribute consultation, selection by cabinet, and visual markers according to the condition of objects. This enables smooth navigation and intelligent querying of the network.
Results
The city of Cabourg now benefits from a powerful operational tool, facilitating daily management, project planning, and preparation for the future public lighting contract. ThinkCities allows for centralizing the knowledge of urban heritage, optimizing technical resources, and engaging the community in a more sustainable, intelligent, and responsive management of its infrastructures.
